Forgiveness doesn't happen without having God's intervention, but we also have a role to play in the process. St. Augustine is credited with saying, "Pray as if everything depends on God, work as if everything depends on you." This is a good illustration of our function and God's role in the approach of forgiveness.
I believe at times when we pray about our broken relationships and inquire God to make issues proper, we have the sincerest intentions. We want God's divine intervention and we want Him to consider the lead as we reach out to other individuals and consider to reconcile and forgive.
Even so, we run into a issue when things do not occur speedily. When forgiveness and reconciliation do not occur on our time clock, we fail to remember that we gave the difficulty to God and then we "get the issue back." Aggravation and impatience set in, and we get issues into our personal hands. If you've ever been at this level, you've crossed the line. You forgot that your part was to surrender the issue to God, and God's role (through the workings of the Holy Spirit) was to operate on shifting hearts.
There are two factors in this approach: prayer and operate.Prayer is spiritual and perform is human.
When you pray as if everything depends on God, you acknowledge that particular facets of the predicament are outdoors of your human manage and you surrender to a higher authority. You put aside your want to change people and correct issues your way, and you get of out God's way so He could do His perform. The Bible tells us to wait on the Lord (Psalm 27:14) and do not be anxious (Philippians 4:6) and with earnest, you try to do the two.
When you operate as everything depends on you, you focus on issues that are within your management: namely, "you, your selections and your actions." As you seek out to strengthen your romantic relationship with Christ, you ask Him to soften your heart toward those who have offended you. You pray for individuals who have hurt you in hopes they will permit God into their hearts so they might modify as effectively. God's mandate is not only to forgive, but also to bear with a single one more (Colossians 3:13), so you also physical exercise patience with your offender.
The next time you pray about mending a broken connection, do not pray as if everything depends on you.
More Info Pray as if almost everything depends on God simply because, at the finish of the day, it genuinely does rely on Him. The approach of forgiveness, healing and reconciliation will always go smoother when we adhere to our role and wait patiently for God to provide on His.
